A photograph of Betty Crossfield (on the right), Jean Marshall's colleague, in Red Cross uniform, and Li Kim, her interpreter, standing in front of the Red Cross Land Rover. The words "British Red Cross Malays, gift of the Malayan Chinese Association" and "马华工会赠送" in Chinese characters can be seen on the left side of the vehicle. This photograph is part of Mrs Jean Marshall collection of photographs taken between 1953 and 1954 when Jean Mary Gray was a British Red Cross field officer in West Pahang during the Malayan Emergency. In 1961, she became Jean Mary Marshall when she married David Marshall, Singapore's first elected Chief Minister. Title devised by Library staff.
