This 1890s photograph shows the interior of the Eastern Extension & Australia Telegraph Company relay station at Banjoewangi, East Java (now Banyuwangi). There are three European men in the photograph, possibly employees of the company. The man on the left is holding a ledger while the man seated at the table is handling perforated paper tapes. The third man is standing with his hands on his hips and behind him is a map of Western Australia. At the far right is a clock showing GE Time. Date of creation estimated.
