This 1966 photograph shows a row of shophouses on Kitchener Road. The second storeys feature balconies, as well as, decorative architraves and pilasters and plaster swags. On the first floors are seen pairs of swinging doors (pintu pagar), typical Peranakan features that allow breezes into the dwellings while maintaining privacy. Title devised by Library staff.
