British prisoner of war carrying a Japanese POW flag

This photographic print shows a British prisoner of war (POW) attired in uniform, boots and a hat. The POW is walking along an unidentified road that is lined with barbed wire. He is also carrying on his shoulder, a flag with a Japanese word "俘" on it. A circular stamp in blue ink with Japanese words "昭和 年·月·日 檢閱濟 昭南憲兵 隊" is seen on the top left corner of the print. The stamp is by the then-Imperial Japanese Post in occupied Malaya to signify that the print has been cleared by the relevant Syonan-to authorities. Title devised by Library staff.
