This 1967 photograph shows the front of a house at Emerald Hill Road, which is off Orchard Road. It features a set of swinging doors (pintu pagar) and bat-shaped vents. The swinging doors are a typical feature of Peranakan houses, allowing in breezes while maintaining privacy. Forming a decorative panel beneath the windows were ceramic wall tiles depicting what look like pheasants. Title devised by Library staff.
