This 1982 photograph shows the stretch of Circular Road, from South Bridge Road corner. Rows of shophouses line both sides of the street. The high-rise buildings of the Central Business District can be seen in the background, with OCBC Centre being the most prominent. The Expressionist style shophouse designed by Ho Kwong Yew, one of Singapore's well-known architects, can also be seen at the intersection between Circular Road and Lorong Telok. Circular Road is so-named because it follows the curve of the Singapore River. Title devised by Library staff.
