Simon Peter Tan has been called a one-man band, a reputation that began in his club-days. He had a long record of being involved in the music scene. As far back as 1985, he started playing in hotels such as Harbour View Dai-Ichi, Le Meridien, The Mandarin… Just to name a few. He has released five albums of original compositions which are a mixture of both vocal and instrumentals. On the side he's written Singapore songs such as "In Singapore" and was involved in producing and arranging successful local albums like "Wah Lau!" (Pony Canyon, 1992) and "Lights of December" (Master's Trax, 1992).
