Inch Chua first rose to prominence as lead vocalist for local rock group Allura, a band launched at the Baybeats Festival 2007. They developed a cult following in the local music scene, winning fans with their lively gigs and Inch’s unique vocals. When the band broke up, she struck out on her own and launched her solo career with the release of her debut EP “The Bedroom” in 2009. On the strength of this release and her strong footing in the local scene, she became the first Singaporean solo artist to perform at major American music festival South by Southwest (SXSW) in 2010. That same year, she was also invited to represent Singapore at the Shanghai Expo in China. 2010 saw the release of her first full-length album “Wallflower”, a mesh of introspective acoustic tracks and upbeat electronica, which backed deeply reflective lyrics. She has since performed at The Canadian Music Festival and SXSW in 2012 as well as opened for Katy Perry, Macy Grey and Vampire Weekend. 2013 saw the release of her sophomore album “Bumfuzzle”. The album was initially crowd-funded by fans on Indiegogo, and is a darker, coming-of-age work. Many of the tracks on it were composed during her creative stint in Los Angeles although later recorded in Singapore. Scroll down this page to view MusicSG's video interview with the artiste!
