The video starts off with an exhibition on the late Georgette Chen and her works in the Singapore Art Museum, which has the strongest collection of her works. Regarded as one of the pioneer artists in Singapore, Chen’s was primarily an oil painter and the paintings featured include Singapore Water Front, Mosque in Malaya, Tropical Fruits, Corn Cob & Green Pepper and Satay Boy, among others. The narrator traces Chen’s life covering her art training, the influences on her art, the genres she painted in, her time teaching at NAFA and her retirement. Footages also include interviews with Thomas Yeo and Chng Seok Tin, two well-known artists, who share the impressions left on them by Chen. Also featured in the video are many portraits of her first husband and self-portraits. Chen passed away in 1993 but left a rich legacy for Singaporeans. For her contributions to the art scene in Singapore, she was awarded the Cultural Medallion for Visual Art in 1982.
