This period-based dance drama production depicts the story of a temple dancer who was believed to have thrilled the hearts of ancient kings who lived during the 13th Century in India. Narrated to the audience in English, this fictitious story portrays the betrayal of love felt by a senior temple dancer who believed that the ruling prince would eventually marry her. In this piece, Neila has interestingly incorporated Tamil poetry as songs for her dance items. The dance items were performed to live music. She has used traditional dance form of Bharathanatyam with subtle contemporary dance movements to capture the intensity of emotion through action and drama. Performed by local dancers and actors from India, Neila has once again stretched her strength in collaborative work.
