Abstract:
The Singapore Tenkasi Muslim Welfare Society (STMWS) was formed in 1940 by a group of Tamil-speaking Muslims to serve the interests and well-being of their members. The Society's emphasis was to uplift the economic condition of its members and therefore placed more emphasis on education and tuition. Bursaries were also given to those who excelled in their studies. STMWS works closely with other Muslim and Indian organisations like Muis, Mendaki, Sinda, FIM, UIMA and SKML.
