Description
This is a close-up of Mr. Tan Boon Teik, the second appointed Attorney-General of Singapore from January 1969 to April 1992. He joined the Legal Service as a magistrate in 1955. He served as Acting Attorney-General from February 1967 to December 1968. He was Deputy Registrar of Supreme Court (1956); Director of Legal Aid Bureau (1959) and Solicitor-General (Sep 1969); Director of Singapore Land Limited (1992-to date) and United Industrial Corporation Limited (1992-to date); Chairman of Singapore Petroleum Company Limited (1971-Aug 1999), Singapore Symphony Orchestra (1979-1999), Singapore International Arbitration Centre (1991-1994) and Singapore Symphonia Company Limited (1978-1998); Director (1985-1990) and later Chairman of Insurance Corporation of Singapore Limited (1992-1994); Vice-President of Singapore Academy of Law (1992); Vice-President (1972) and later President of Singapore Musical Society (1992); Fellow of Singapore Institute of Directors; and Roving Ambassador to Hungary (1992-1994) and concurrently accredited to Slovak Republic and Austria (1994). He was conferred the Distinguished Service Order in 1978. Title devised by Library staff.
