Description
This is the façade of three-storey hexagon building of Keng Seng Primary School at 143, Alexandra Road. The 143rd school built by the government, it was an amalgamation of three schools, namely, Keng Seng School(更生学校), Strathmore Primary School and Friendly Hill Primary School. The school started functioning at 143, Alexandra Road on 2 January 1979. It was declared open by Mr. Lim Chee Onn, Member of Parliament for Bukit Merah, on 27 June 1980. In January 2002, it merged with Alexandra Hill Primary School, Bukit Ho Swee Primary School and Henderson Primary School to form Gan Eng Seng Primary School and functioning at the new school built at 100, Redhill Close (former site of Alexandra Hill Primary School). It was declared open by Dr. Chong Weng Chiew, Member of Parliament for Tanjong Pagar GRC, on 11 September 2004. Past principals of Gan Eng Seng Primary School are Madam Ng Soh Hua (黄淑华, Dec 2001-Dec 2008); and Mrs. Aw-Thian Ai Ling (程爱玲, Dec 2008-to date). Title devised by Library staff.
