This is a half-length portrait of Sir Lim Han Hoe in his graduation gown. He was a medical doctor, Municipal Commissioner (1926-1932); Unofficial Member of Legislative Council (1933-1941) and Executive Council (1940); Vice-President of Singapore Rotary Club (1932-1933); Director of Singapore Chinese Girls' School (1924); President (Dramatic Section) of Straits Chinese Reading Club (1924-1927) and Straits Chinese Recreation Club (1932-1935); Member of Council of the King Edward VII College of Medicine (1930-1941) and Education Board (1930-1938); and Honorary Secretary (1920-1922), Vice-President (1925) and later President (1930-1932) of Straits Chinese British Association; and Chairman of Public Service Commission (1956).
