Cenotaph to "Our Glorious Dead, 1939 - 1945" : close-up

This is a close-up of the cenotaph showing each year of the war inscribed into each step leading to the granite monument. There is a carving of a laurel wreath of victory enclosing a crown. On the top is a sarcophagus-like construction with lion heads on each side which is supported by eight miniature pillars. An inscription "Our glorious dead" that serves to commemorate the men who perished during the war is also seen on the façade. Title devised by Library staff.
