City Hall area, 1970s : aerial view

Presented in this black-and-white photograph is an aerial view of the City Hall area taken in the late 1970s. Landmarks include Saint Andrew's Cathedral, War Memorial Park, the Padang, Fort Canning Park at the top left corner and the land where Raffles City is presently located, in which the ground-breaking occurred on 14 August 1980. The waterfront can also be clearly seen at the bottom of the photograph as land reclamation of the Marina Bay area here, has not commenced. Date of creation estimated.
