Katong swimming pool, 1950s : general view [2]


This photograph shows people at the old Katong swimming pool located in the east of Singapore. Some people are seen on the raised platform, while others are seen swimming in the pool. Opened in December 1931, the Katong Park Bathing Pagar was Singapore's first public sea swimming enclosure. The pagar was demolished in the 1960s, due to land reclamation. Donated by Lye Siew Fong, and displayed at the Heritage Roadshow 2008. Date of creation estimated. HRS3_123. Title devised by Library staff.
