Victoria Memorial Hall, with statue of Raffles, 1919 : general view

This 1919 photograph is mounted on a board, with handwritten words "Raffle's statue" on the front and "1919" on the back. It shows Sir Stamford Raffles' statue, in front of Victoria Memorial Hall. The statue was sculpted by Thomas Woolner and installed on Jubilee Day on 27 June 1887 at the Padang. It was moved to the front of the Victoria Memorial Hall on 6 February 1919 during the Centenary Celebrations. Title devised by Library staff. Date of creation estimated.
