This is a 1990 photograph showing a row of shophouses on Farquhar Street, with views between Bernard Street and Beach Lane/Road. A high-rise building can be seen in the background. Farquhar Street was named after Lieutenant-Colonel William Farquhar, the first Resident of Singapore who shared with Raffles the credit of creating the new settlement of Singapore.
